2013: A Year of Glory for City of Geraldton

With the new year upon us, it is only natural to look back on the past year and see what it brought us. In the City of Greater Geraldton, the past year had a lot of milestones and achievements that could, without doubt, influence the city’s present and future. Let us look fondly back at the recent accomplishments.

Recent Accomplishments of Geraldton

Infrastructure Construction

One of the greatest achievements of the past year was the progress that was made in the Karloo-Wandina project, a plan that has already been partially executed to enhance the city’s infrastructure and allow easier access to other areas. It began with the improvement of a major intersection that was potentially dangerous. This was completed in February 2013 and the project has taken off ever since.

In November 2013, the first official sod was turned, marking the beginning of this project in earnest. Currently, it is under budget and ahead of schedule meaning that not only was the first stage successful, but the future looks bright as well.

What This Means

The initial success of this project has a number of implications for residents of Geraldton. The most obvious of course is that new areas and routes that were inaccessible before can now be travelled on. This path is currently called the Eastern Breakwater and will allow greater travel for all residents.

In addition, the opening of these roads means that many more new homes will be available for building on adjacent land. This bodes very well for real estate in Geraldton and means that not only will current residents enjoy the fruits of the construction, but those who are looking to buy properties can also see and enjoy what the city has to offer.

Onward and Upward

New milestones in construction were reached in 2013, paving the road for 2014 to be an even greater year of accomplishments. The new construction that is being undergone will not only make life easier for residents, but will also allow new ones to come in and become a part of the Geraldton family, celebrating together the successes of yesterday and today and look forward for the future.
